For automated studies we specialize in radar, using a variety of sensors which record up to SIX lanes of bi-directional traffic. For presence and speed, our CA Traffic Generation 1 Radar sensor is close to 100% accurate. Our Generation 2 Radar sensor, or Black Cat, is a highly accurate classifier. With a processor ten times faster than the Generation 1, this revolutionary sensor accurately measures length, as well as, speed and gap. Our Houston Radar Crossfire is a highly accurate side-fire device that effectively eliminates the challenging problem of occlusion.

These non-intrusive radar sensing methods allow for simple and safe installation. As there are no tubes or hardware there are also none of the resultant problems or delays. Also, the unobtrusive box is less likely to affect driver behavior than are tubes, and more likely to produce accurate results.

No-Need-For-Tubes-on-the-Road Radar technology is unobtrusive

For manual studies we use video. Our HORUS View Camera is a high resolution camera with a 170 degree lens, thus able to capture most any four-approach intersection. Results are entered into the Turning Movement Count application, then Excel files created at portablestudies.com. For manual studies without video, we use tablets loaded with the Turning Movement Count application, which includes pedestrians, bicycles, and three vehicle banks.
